Reno Prep Render
RENO PREP RENDER with its unique formulation, offers much greater workability than normal renders. The higher tensile strength provided by the reinforcement allows the traditional render application to be reduced in thickness. On blockwork or brickwork, an overall thickness of approximately 10mm is required, consisting of a 8mm basecoat and 2mm topcoat. The render can be applied as little as 2mm to feather out uneven edges of existing old renders, or for repairing old render.
COST SAVINGS:
Unlike conventional basecoats which are normally allowed to dry and crack before subsequent coats are applied, RENO PREP RENDER allows the finishing coat to be applied in 24 hours, depending on weather conditions, giving a significant reduction in 'time-on-site' costs.
EXCELLENT ADHESION:
RENO PREP RENDER has excellent adhesion properties to overcome problems associated with variable site conditions and poor substrates. This makes it ideal for building restoration projects and can easily be applied to sound stonework, brick or block surfaces.
EASY ON-SITE USE:
RENO PREP RENDER supplied in 25kg polythene sacks, is subject to strict controls during manufacture to ensure an even distribution of the ingredients, to eliminate the risk of inconsistent on-site mixing.
RENO PREP RENDER WITH ITS UNIQUE FIBRE RE-INFORCEMENT:
The fibres are added on site to suit substrate and site conditions. Please consult Renotex for details.
- Increased impact resistance.
- High resistance to cracking.
- Conforms to BS 473 550 and BS 4315 water permeability and water saturation storm test.
- Quality controlled pre-mix eliminates waste and site mixing errors.
- Can be applied to existing wet walls.
- Ideal surface for Renotex Masonry Coatings.
- Impermeable to driving rain.
APPLICATION:
RENO PREP RENDER can be applied to most surfaces including suitably prepared brickwork, blockwork or concrete. It may also be applied over metal lathing, plastic tensar grid or insulation board system.
COVERAGE:
When RENO PREP RENDER basecoat is applied at a thickness of 8mm with a topcoat of 2mm giving a total thickness of 10mm, 14kg will cover 1 square metre.

METHOD STATEMENT:
MIXING OF RENO-PREP & FIBRE:
- Empty contents of 100g bag of fibres in to 10ltrs of water in a bucket.
Stir to disperse fibres.
Empty into cement mixer. - Start mixer.
Add 4 x 25kg bags of RENO PREP RENDER in to mixer, one at a time.
Add water to suit.
Give thorough mixing until material is of suitable consistency to apply to walls.
APPLICATION ON BLOCKWORK OF RENO PREP RENDER WITH FIBRES:
- Apply 7 - 8mm of render mix with fibres as basecoat on to dry blockwork.
- Second coat of Reno-Prep WITHOUT fibres to be applied as topcoat 2mm - 3mm in depth, giving overall depth of 10mm.
- Basecoat does not need to be scratched.
- Second coat can be applied in same day if the basecoat is sufficiently hard enough to render over.
Wash off any render from glass or PVC before it sets. - The topcoat can be steel trowel finished, sponged or wood floated.
Beware: a sponged surface can bring sand to the surface when dry, so brush off before applying ROLLERCOAT. - Allow up to 7 days for the render to cure before ROLLERCOAT is applied.
BEADING AND EXPANSION JOINTS:
- Expansion joints to be 10mm in depth.
- Use Expamet 562 (galvanised) side-by-side with plastic expansion strip.
- Expansion joints to be place approximately 5 metres apart, preferably behind rainwater goods.
- Use galvanised beads around windows to take 10mm render
STAGES OF APPLICATION OF RENO PREP RENDER:
